Choice Language Services began back in November 1998 as a simple desk and a telephone in the corner of an office occupied by a recruitment agency.

The decision by Mike Smith and Mike Taylor was to build a reputation of having the best translators available to enable us to offer the best quality to the clients.

“One thing I found in this industry, is that it is well known for paying freelance translators  only when the end client pays” Says Mike Taylor. “We therefore took a ‘policy’ decision to ensure timely payments to our translators. It’s worked very well, because we have linguists that are aware of our policy and can’t wait to join our team. This means that we have built up a large ‘stable’ of excellent quality linguists all over the world, in a relatively short space of time.”

CLS has grown from it’s humble beginnings into a major force in the translation business. They have recently moved to new offices as part of an expansion program and now have a dedicated project management team as well as in excess of 8,000 linguists based Worldwide. All this, coupled with some serious investment in Translation Memory tools and other quality assurance technology means that Choice Language Services are set to continue their success into the coming years.
